JSU bowling: O'Keefes aiming for championship in year one at Jax State
Thomas Ashworth
Anniston Star
"When Shannon and Bryan O’Keefe chose to pack up and leave their top-ranked bowling program at McKendree University to help launch a program at Jacksonville State, the two knew that there would be plenty of risk. After a short time in Jacksonville State and without knocking down one pin as a program, the duo have already propelled the Gamecocks into the national championship conversation."

2023 PBA Hardness Report
Professional Bowlers Association
"The PBA decision is to raise the minimum manufacturing hardness of traditional urethane and urethane-like equipment to 78.0HD for all tour levels effective 1/6/2024. Data from testing as shown in Appendix B highlights multiple traditional urethane balls for more than one manufacturer testing in the 68’s for hardness."

New bowling alley set to bring the ‘GoodTimes’ to Troy
Josh Boutwell
Troy Messenger

"GoodTimes owner Scott Good on Monday and Good said that the goal is to have the bowling alley open the first week of October, weather permitting. Good said that the slab for the bowling alley will be poured this week and the construction on the building is expected to begin following that. Good is the owner of GoodTimes in Auburn, a bowling alley that has been in operation there since 2018."

Dear Abby: Stacked bowling team just isn’t fair
Abagail Van Buren

"Our bowling center has been bought by a former professional bowler. She has formed a team consisting of herself, her fiance, her son and a friend who are all top-notch bowlers. Her son scores in the high 200s every game he bowls. Since they own the place, they get unlimited practice."
Editors Note: You know people think about this, probably in your league also.

Bowling All-State: Coaches announce top AHSAA bowlers from 2022-23 season
“Alabama High School Athletic Association bowling coaches have announced their selections for all-state teams, the first – at least since the sport was re-started in 2015-16 after being discontinued for 37 years. "

An innovation in pin racking angers some pro bowlers
All Things Considered

“...found that there are fewer strikes, there's odder splits that come out of that and that bowling is perceivably changed with the advent of these string pin setters. Now, proprietors of bowling alleys say, look; this new technology is more affordable. It's easier to maintain. ..."

Alabama bowler connects for 300 at 2022 USBC Open Championships
Aaron Smith
USBC Press Release

"Patrick Gormandy of Elberta, Alabama, was able to experience that feeling as he stepped up for a chance to finish his singles set Sunday at the 2022 event with a 300 game, but he was able to calm his nerves and deliver in the moment to become the 11th bowler this year to achieve the feat at the South Point Bowling Plaza."

Calera's Angela Nance avoids 'getting hung,' sets women's state bowling series record
Solomon Crenshaw
Birmingham News

"You can't be tense and nervous or you can't repeat the same shot over and over," she said. "I had to remind myself to take a deep breath, just do the one ball at a time. I had a great team that was there to support me. We talked about other things to try not to focus on that the whole night long until that was over."
Hoover's Paul Ealy sets state bowling series record of 896 at Birmingham's Brunswick Riverview Lanes
Solomon Crenshaw Jr
